Customer Build: The Thompson Family Adventure Van
James and Sarah Thompson wanted a Sprinter that worked for two adults and a dog, on the road for months at a time. Here is how their build came together.
James and Sarah Thompson came to us with a clear brief. They wanted a Mercedes Sprinter LWB that could carry two adults and a dog comfortably, for trips that stretch from a long weekend to several months on the road.
The layout
We started with the rear lounge layout. The bench seats give them a sociable space to cook, eat and relax in, then fold flat into a double bed each night. The dog gets the floor space in front, which turned out to be the part they were most pleased with.
Storage and finish
Storage was the next priority. Overhead lockers run the length of the van, and the kitchen pod carries everything they need to cook properly rather than just heat things up. The finish is Natural Oak, which keeps the interior bright on grey days.
Six months on
Six months into life on the road, the Thompsons told us the fit had held up perfectly with no rattles or movement. That is exactly what precision cutting is for, and exactly the kind of feedback that keeps us refining every layout.
