The Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter and MAN TGE are three of the most converted vans in the UK, and for good reason. All three are roomy, well built and available in the wheelbases that make a comfortable camper. The differences are in the detail.
Mercedes Sprinter
The Sprinter has the strongest reputation and the widest dealer network. Parts and servicing are easy to find, and the cab feels premium. It tends to command a higher price both new and used, which is the price of that reputation.
VW Crafter and MAN TGE
The VW Crafter and the MAN TGE share much of their engineering, so on the road they feel very similar. The Crafter carries the VW badge and the dealer experience that comes with it. The TGE often represents better value for the same underlying van, which is why converters increasingly look at it.
