Plywood furniture is built to last, but a van is a demanding home. Heat, damp and constant movement all take their toll. A few simple habits keep your build looking and working like new for years.
Cleaning the right way
Wipe surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight after. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive pads, which dull a laminate finish over time. For a wood finish, an occasional wax keeps it fed and water resistant.
Keep damp at bay
Damp is the main enemy of any van interior. Ventilate after cooking and showering, deal with leaks quickly, and lift cushions now and then so air can move underneath. Most plywood problems start as a small damp problem left to grow.
Look after the hardware
Check your hardware every few months. Hinges, catches and drawer runners work loose with vibration, so a quick tighten keeps doors aligned and quiet. A drop of light oil on runners keeps everything sliding smoothly.
